frequently asked questions
Is a bridal trial required?
A trial is included in your bridal makeup package. This gives us a chance to meet and vibe before your big day as well as try out the look you’re thinking for wedding day.
How long is a trial & where at?
Bridal trials usually take around an hour and a half to two hours. This gives us plenty of time to have a consultation, chat about details, and apply your makeup! Your appointment will be in my private studio at Hartwood Salon in North Liberty.
What should I bring to my trial?
Come with clean + moisturized skin as well as have some inspo photos of makeup you like. Photos of makeup artists’ work on instagram is always preferred over Pinterest. Wearing a white top with a similar neckline to your dress is always a good idea as well!
When should I schedule my trial?
I recommend getting your bridal trial scheduled 4-6 weeks before your date if possible! We can book this a few months in advance. Trials are only scheduled Tuesday-Thursdays.
How can I prep for my trial?
I highly recommend getting a facial, eyebrow waxing, and dermaplane from a professional for the best looking skin + makeup. It’s also very helpful to get a spray tan before your trial run if you will have one on the wedding day!
How long is each service on wedding day?
Please allow at least one hour for the brides glam and 30 to 45 minutes for bridesmaids, moms, and guests. Flower girls take about 10 minutes.
What is your minimum + maximum number of services?
Maximum number of services I will do solo is six. Please note, to book a wedding, a minimum number of four services is required (unless you’ve selected the Bride Only package).
Do you do airbrush makeup?
I do not use an airbrush machine, no! I apply foundation with brushes and a beauty blender depending on the desired look.
How does bringing an assistant work?
I can do up to six services before you would either need to hire a second MUA or I could look into bringing an assistant for an additional cost of $200. If I bring my assistant, I handle all payment and communication. Please note, I would need a minimum of eight months notice to find an assistant.
What is your travel fee?
Travel from my house in North Liberty to your venue is $1/mile both ways.
How do touch ups work throughout the day?
I will leave you + your girls a touch up kit including lip gloss, oil blotting sheets, powder, etc. If you’d like me to stay past completion time for touch ups all evening, I would be happy to! Cost of staying past completion time is $100/ hr.
How do you take payment?
Your invoice can be paid directly through my invoicing platform, HoneyBook. I also accept cash, Venmo, and any credit or debit card.
What makeup brands do you use?
I carry a variety of brands in my kit - a few of my favorites are Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, NARS, Rare Beauty, Haus Labs, Makeup by Mario, and Natasha Denona.
